Bahrain Decision No 43_2022 On The List Of Occupational Diseases And Identification Of Percentages Of Disability Resulting Therefrom
The given law, Bahrain Decision No. 43/2022, focuses on the List of Occupational Diseases and the determination of disability percentages resulting from these diseases. It references Bahrain Law No. 34/2018, the Public Health Law, and Bahrain Decision No. 31/2019 on Public Medical Committees. The law also considers the Gulf Regulation for the Schedule of Occupational Diseases issued by the Gulf Committee for Occupational Health and Safety of the Health Council of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in May 2016, along with the guide for assessing disability due to occupational diseases issued by the same committee in August 2016. Article 1 approves the list of occupational diseases, which includes various diseases caused by exposure to chemical agents such as beryllium, cadmium, chromium, lead, fluorine, carbon disulfide, nitroglycerine, alcohols, asphyxiants, acrylonitrile, oxides of nitrogen, vanadium, antimony, hexane, mineral acids, pharmaceutical agents, nickel, thallium, osmium, selenium, copper, platinum, tin, zinc, phosgene, corneal irritants, ammonia, isocyanates, pesticides, sulphur oxides, organic solvents, latex, chlorine, and other chemical agents not specifically mentioned. It also includes vinyl chloride monomer, acrylamide monomer, methylbromide, dioxane, diethylene dioxide, and phenol derivatives. Additionally, it covers diseases caused by noise, vibration, compressed or decompressed air, ionizing radiations, and optical radiations including laser. The complete list is provided in Annex 1 attached to the decision. Article 2 approves the tables that determine the disability percentages resulting from these occupational diseases, as outlined in Annex 2 attached to the decision. The law was issued on 15 Safar 1444 H, corresponding to 11 September 2022, by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan. It was published in the Official Gazette of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Issue no. 3628, on 15/09/2022. The responsibility of implementing the provisions of this decision is assigned to the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and other relevant parties, with the decision coming into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
